We are lucky to be able to add information on selected UML ”Capstone” projects.   These are the required senior projects done in teams and last two semesters.   Each team works to define the project, plan, and execute it.   Students are encouraged to publish it as a student paper or poster as well as entering it in UML research poster competitions.  Additional emphasis is sometimes placed on green and environmental concerns and service learning (service to the community).

We will be featuring several projects, including some that focus on service oriented projects that seek to combine innovative technical concepts with worthwhile causes.  UML has organized these projects through a Service Learning Group.   http://www.slice.uml.edu/

One Service Learning project we hope to learn more of: Redesigning RFID Tag

Other Capstone projects we look forward to learning more about:

  • Liquid Silicone Injection Molding
  •  Use of Nano-Composite Multilayer Films in Food  Packaging Applications
  • Integration of Kistler Pressure Sensors to Study Weld Lines of TPO Materials
  • Purging Compound Study
  • The Effect of Gamma Sterilization on Nano-clay Filled Nylon-12
  • Crystalline Microstructure in Different Thickness of PP
  • Improving Replication of Injection Molded Microstructure Surface With External Gas Assist
  • Effects of die coatings on melt fracture in a wire and cable coating process
  • Thinwall injection molding technology using carbon Nanotubes
  • ALS Communication Device

More later- let us know if you are particularly interested in a specific project.
